Respect Yourself

My friend shared this video to warn other artists about how she was taken advantage of, and I believe this is a very important message that every artist should hear. I've lost count of how many times someone, be it a big corporation or an individual, have asked me to illustrate for them for free. It will always go something like this "You draw this for us, and we will include your name in the credits. That's good publicity for you!" as if such a pathetic offer holds any merit. There was one specific case where a guy wanted to use my drawing as a book cover but didn't want to pay. He said he might print up to 50,000 books, so that's like an

Not So Tradional Tuesdays #20

I like to think that the things that make one piece of art great applies, for the most part, to other genres. A painter can learn how light and shadow fall from photography, photo-manipulators can learn about composition from a great Manga drawing, and literature can give you the inspiration to try something new or take your work to the next step. You may never try all art forms you see! You can however take what you learn from them and incorporate that into your own work. It could be the difference between stagnating and that breakthrough every artist wants to find! Now on with the show! **WARNING:Viewing these works of art may cause giddin

When I Said

When I said I wanted a fairy tale I meant I wanted a prince. I didn't want to be locked in a Tower. I didn't want to be fought by a Wicked Witch. I didn't want This. When I said I wanted a fairy tale I meant I wanted to be a princess. I didn't want to watch a rose Die. I didn't want to wear the gown Temporarily. I wanted it Forever. See, When I said I wanted a fairy tale... I expected it to end in a Happily Ever After. But i never expected it to end like this.
